  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces. Flatten each piece and place a small amount of cheddar in the center.
  7. Wrap the dough around the cheese and shape into balls.
  8. Dissolve baking soda in a pot of boiling water. Boil the pretzel bites for 30 seconds, then remove and drain.
  9. Place the bites on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
