Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • Red food coloring
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine water and butter; bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat, add flour, cocoa powder, and salt; stir until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Spoon dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe churros into hot oil, cutting to desired length.
  8. Fry until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Roll churros in sugar after frying.
