Delicious red velvet churros coated in sugar.
Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a pot, combine water and butter; bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat, add flour, cocoa powder, and salt; stir until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Spoon dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe churros into hot oil, cutting to desired length.
- Fry until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- Roll churros in sugar after frying.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for a vibrant color.
- Serve with cream cheese dip for extra flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
