Description
Traditional Sticky Toffee Pudding is a classic British dessert. It features a moist sponge cake made with finely chopped dates, drenched in a rich toffee sauce.

- 200g dates, chopped
- 300ml boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 100g unsalted butter, softened
- 150g brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 200ml heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Soak the chopped dates in boiling water and add baking soda. Let it cool.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar.
- Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the date mixture.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder. Mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake tin.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
- For the sauce, heat heavy cream and pour it over the pudding before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm for the best experience.
- Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
- Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
