Traditional Sticky Toffee Pudding is a classic British dessert. It features a moist sponge cake made with finely chopped dates, drenched in a rich toffee sauce.


Ingredients

  • 300ml boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 200ml heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Soak the chopped dates in boiling water and add baking soda. Let it cool.
  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar.
  4. Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the date mixture.
  6. Sift in the flour and baking powder. Mix until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake tin.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
  9. For the sauce, heat heavy cream and pour it over the pudding before serving.
